02 · ASK A USEFUL QUESTION

Start with a prompt.
Follow the evidence.

Copy these in order into your connected assistant.
Each builds on the answer before it.

01

Read the intended promotion plan

Read the full prompt
Use only this Datapipe project’s authorized data. Discover the connected accounts, datasets and compatible fields first. Confirm dates, timezones, currencies and data coverage. Keep missing or unmatched rows visible; never substitute sample data. Compare the sources explicitly and explain every match. Do not change source records or send messages.

Read my Google Sheet promotion tab, discover its actual headers and select the intended active promotion. Return SKU, planned units, fulfillment location and launch date. Flag duplicates, negative/missing quantities and ambiguous locations. These quantities are the supplied plan, not a forecast.
02

Follow up across your data sources

Read the full prompt
Use only this Datapipe project’s authorized data sources. Discover the connected accounts, datasets, and fields first. If the right account or required data is missing, ask me rather than substituting sample data. Show the actual dates, filters, coverage, and any partial results.

Check the selected location and planned SKUs. Update the launch review. Read the actual current records behind the shortlist. Show which source supports each observation, distinguish causes from hypotheses, and propose one specific next step.
03

Put the change into practice

Read the full prompt
Put the stock decision in the promotion sheet. Use real returned records and verified current values, not the example identifiers or wording. Show the exact proposed change. Prepare the supported action for review in Datapipe; after approval there, apply only the approved change and re-read the source record to verify it. If configured write access or a field is missing, explain what is needed instead of claiming success.

03 · USE WHAT YOU FIND

Compare available units with the plan.

  3. 03

Compare available units with the plan.

Check the result at your next review.

Re-read current available stock before launch and compare the selected plan again. Review the final plan with the team; the report itself does not reserve units.

Implementation tips for this use case

Use native available quantity, not total on-hand or incoming. Calculate available minus planned units once per matched item/location. Confirm other commitments and your safety buffer; the comparison does not reserve stock or place an order.

behind this example.

How to compare a promotion plan with location-level Shopify stock
  1. Read the active promotion plan.

Use a Google Sheet tab with promotion ID, SKU, planned units, intended fulfillment location and launch date. Discover the actual headers and filter the intended plan. Quantities are your plan, not an AI demand forecast.

  2. Resolve the SKU and location identities.

Use Shopify inventory items/variants and locations to verify a unique item and intended location. Duplicate or missing SKUs need a manual match. Read Stock by location using its explicit location ID.

  3. Compare available units with the plan.

Use native available quantity, not total on-hand or incoming. Calculate available minus planned units once per matched item/location. Confirm other commitments and your safety buffer; the comparison does not reserve stock or place an order.

WHAT TO LOOK ATResolve the organizer gap before launch. The tote covers the planned quantity, but only two units remain as a buffer.

Compare available units with the plan.

Illustrative report output · no live query or source change

The Sheet plans 20 units for the promotion. Shopify returns 3 available units at the selected fulfillment location, leaving a 17-unit gap against the plan. The plan calls for 6 units and the location has 8 available. The remaining buffer is 2 units; that is plan coverage, not a demand forecast or stock reservation.

SKU and fulfillment location resolve to unique native identities. Available, on-hand, committed and incoming are not interchangeable. The comparison checks a supplied plan rather than forecasting demand.

For blended reports, align dates, normalized URLs, and reporting grain. Query-level search rows must not duplicate page-level sessions. This is an illustrative workflow; live accounts and destinations need their own setup.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you start.

Should incoming stock count as available for the promotion?

Keep it separate until receipt and fulfillment availability are confirmed. This example compares planned units with Shopify’s native available quantity at the intended location.

Does this forecast how much the campaign will sell?

No. It checks the quantities you supplied in the Sheet against current available stock. Forecasting requires a separate demand model and assumptions.
