Build today’s low-stock list

Use only this Datapipe project’s authorized data sources. Discover the connected accounts, datasets, and fields first. If the right account or required data is missing, ask me rather than substituting sample data. Show the actual dates, filters, coverage, and any partial results.

From this project’s connected Shopify store, list current products with total inventory below 10. Return product ID, title, status, and total inventory, plus the capture time. Ten is my chosen review threshold, not a demand forecast. Do not reconstruct historical stock from current values.
02

Check the inventory context

For the shortlisted products, inspect available variant and location datasets. Ask for a specific location if the dataset requires it. Keep product totals distinct from location-level availability and flag missing stock context.
03

Prepare a promotion stock check

Create a review list for the shortlisted products: observed stock, variants/locations to check, and missing demand or fulfillment information. Do not infer sales velocity from a single snapshot or place orders or change inventory.

03 · USE WHAT YOU FIND

Check availability before planning the next promotion.

  1. 01

Read current product inventory from the connected store.

  2. 02

Apply the threshold that makes sense for your business.

  3. 03

Check the relevant locations and variants before taking action.

Check the result at your next review.

Repeat the current-state review at a useful cadence. Historical stock movement or demand forecasts need appropriate historical and sales data; a single current snapshot cannot supply them.

Implementation tips for this use case

Choose a threshold suited to the business and check the relevant locations, variants, and fulfillment rules. Use the list in your promotion or replenishment review rather than treating it as an automatic purchase order.

The method and reporting checks
behind this example.

How to find products below your stock threshold
  1. Read the connected store’s current products.

Choose the Shopify current-products dataset, product identity, and native total inventory. The current state is not a historical stock record.

  2. Apply your business threshold.

Choose a threshold such as fewer than 10 units. Keep this a user-selected operational filter rather than a predicted stockout date.

  3. Check variants and locations before acting.

Use the relevant location/variant reporting where needed. Review availability and demand separately before ordering stock or changing a promotion.

Data method, reporting checks & sources

Use the Shopify current-products dataset and native total inventory. This is a current-state check, not historical stock reconstruction or a demand forecast.

Inventory is not sales velocity or a promise of fulfillment availability. Product totals and location-level availability have different grains. No purchase order or stock adjustment is created.

  • Stock values are current and timestamped.
  • The threshold is explicit and appropriate for this business.
  • Location and variant checks are separate from product-level totals.
  • An authorized Shopify store with inventory read access.
  • Your own stock threshold and a separate location/variant check where needed.

For blended reports, align dates, normalized URLs, and reporting grain. Query-level search rows must not duplicate page-level sessions. This is an illustrative workflow; live accounts and destinations need their own setup.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you start.

Is total product inventory the same as what is available at one location?

No. Product totals, variant stock, and location-level availability have different contexts. Check the dataset relevant to fulfillment before making a decision.

Can this predict when I will run out?

Not from this sample. A forecast needs demand, sales velocity, lead times, and suitable historical data. This use case is a current threshold check.
