Compare page performance across engines

Use only this Datapipe project’s authorized data. Discover the connected accounts, datasets and compatible fields first. Confirm dates, timezones, currencies and data coverage. Keep missing or unmatched rows visible; never substitute sample data. Compare the sources explicitly and explain every match. Do not change source records or send messages.

Read page-level Search Console and Bing results for the same complete 28-day window. Keep engine, URL, clicks, impressions and the native position measures. Show each source’s coverage and flag omitted or unmatched pages. Do not average Google and Bing positions together.

Read the consulting page in WordPress. What should we investigate next? Read the actual current records behind the shortlist. Show which source supports each observation, distinguish causes from hypotheses, and propose one specific next step.

Build the engine-by-engine investigation brief. Use the actual returned evidence and retain source dates, attribution and grain. Prepare a concise, usable result in this conversation with owners or unanswered checks where needed.

03 · USE WHAT YOU FIND

Investigate the difference before editing.

  1. 01

Read page-level results from both engines.

  2. 02

    Match pages to WordPress.

  3. 03

    Investigate the difference before editing.

Check the result at your next review.

Repeat the engine-specific comparison over complete periods. Record any later page change and consider seasonality and query mix before attributing movement.

Implementation tips for this use case

Review country/device mix, returned queries, crawl and index context, and the current page. A difference between search engines is an investigation signal; it does not prove a technical fault or a weak title.

The method and reporting checks
behind this example.

How to compare Google and Bing page performance
  1. Read page-level results from both engines.

Connect the same website in Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. Choose matching complete calendar dates and preserve each provider’s timezone, top-row limits and returned coverage.

  2. Match pages to WordPress.

Read WordPress page URLs, titles and modified dates. Normalize hostnames and URL paths deliberately, retaining unmatched URLs and redirects for review. Compare engine-specific queries separately from page totals.

Engine-specific position measures are kept separate. Each match uses the intended website and normalized URL. Bing top-row/history limits and missing pages remain visible.

For blended reports, align dates, normalized URLs, and reporting grain. Query-level search rows must not duplicate page-level sessions. This is an illustrative workflow; live accounts and destinations need their own setup.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you start.

Should I combine Google and Bing average positions?

Keep them separate. Each engine returns its own measures, audience and result set. Compare the page patterns and queries within that context.

Does a missing Bing row mean the page has no traffic?

No. Coverage, provider top-row limits and reporting delays can omit a page. Check what the source returned before interpreting a missing row.
